  1. Lie on back
  2. Place foot in foot strap
  3. Wrap the strap around and behind calf supporting the lower leg
  4. Pump ankle 10 times with 3-5 seconds holds

How it works: Nerve glides are designed to mobilize the nerve through the nervous system.  Nerve glides should be integrated slowly into an exercise program as to not irritate an already sensitive nervous system.  Begin with low repetitions to assess patient response.  The nervous system may become restricted at large joints or when passing by/through large muscles.  Emphasis at ankle mobilizes the nervous system at the ankle and helps clear any potential restrictions.

REPS: Nerve glides should be performed in low doses – 1-3 sets per day, 5-10 reps

Typical Symptom Response:

  • Positive:  Relaxation of muscles in the leg, hip and or low back.  Decrease in pain intensity
  • Negative: Pain increases or area of pain becomes larger in diameter or moves into the buttocks or leg
