Low Back Pain
  1. Place belt securely around waist
  2. Lie prone
  3. Secure hand grips in hands
  4. Cross arms and place hands under chest creating tension through the resistive bands
  5. Unilaterally lift one side of your anterior pelvis off the floor tightening of the muscles above belt line and close to the spine
  6. Alternate and repeat

Appropriate for patients with general low back pain with decrease core and spine strength or in later stages of disc injury and or arthritic changes  

How it works: The multifidi are local postural muscles designed for lateral stabilization and rotational stabilization.  The multifidi are essential muscles for spinal stabilization that provide rigidity to spine during dynamic and static endurance activities.  Multifidi strengthening should be implemented immediately following pain modulation/reduction.

REPS: 5-15 reps every 1-3 hours or when pain increases

Typical Symptom Response:

  • Positive- Muscle fatigue or muscle burn.
  • Negative-  Pain that increases in the spine greater than 20 minutes following the exercise
